Fluker Farms Announces Research Pledge To The LSU Foundation

Funds to Support Entomology and Zoological Medicine and Research at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge

PORT ALLEN, LA, AUGUST 10, 2018 - Fluker’s Cricket Farm, Inc., is pleased to announce their donation of $267,000 to The LSU Foundation to further education and research in both the Zoological Medicine and Entomology departments.

“Our company has been breeding feeder insects for over 50 years and reptiles for over a decade,” said David Fluker, President and Owner of Fluker’s Cricket Farm. “We’re passionate about these animals and what it takes to make sure they are healthy and thriving. Our donation to The LSU Foundation is just one way for us to take this dedication even further.”

A portion of the donation will establish the Fluker Farms Zoological Medicine Support Fund for the LSU School of Veterinary Medicine. The remainder of the funds will be contributed to the Department of Entomology in the LSU College of Agriculture as the Fluker Farms Entomology Support Fund. In both departments, the funds will be used for funding research and Ph.D. candidate stipends. This will be accomplished through means such as equipment procurement and student support.

“We are eager to partner with LSU to provide funding to these important areas of education,” said Fluker. “We get to have a direct hand in veterinary medicine and insect research, and we couldn’t be more excited about this opportunity.”

The LSU Foundation is the primary fundraising entity for academics at LSU, supporting the school’s programs and departments through philanthropic partnerships. For more information on The LSU Foundation, visit lsufoundation.org.
