Our Story
Richard Fluker understood that fishing has always been a passion of those in the South. He supplied crickets to local bait shops to help those who love the sport, catch fish. In 1956, he successfully founded Fluker's Cricket Farm, Inc. in charming southern Louisiana. In the late 1980s, David Fluker (Richard's son), realized a demand by his customers to offer additional live insects: mealworms, hissing cockroaches, superworms and needs beyond feeding and baiting. As he took over the family business, the project started modestly in a 500-square foot building. Many hours were spent striving to produce the healthiest and hardiest insects on the market. Fluker's has come a long way from that small building into a robust farm and a perfected method for the breeding of live insects. Our workers share the same quality of perseverance, and always will in order to continue growing.
Our Impact
After 65 years, Fluker's has become the nation's leader in live cricket production and expanded into breeding reptiles for over a decade. We have expanded from selling live insects for fishing bait to offering feeder insects. Now, we are a one-stop shop for both beginner and advanced reptile and small pet enthusiasts. Our breeding experience helps us create quality products. We offer cutting-edge items like reptile diets, lamps, and almost everything a reptile hobbyist might need. We are now offered online and in major stores across the country.

1950s
Richard Fluker quit his plant job on a whim and founded Fluker Farms in the mid 1950’s. His original mission was to supply crickets as fish bait for local fisherman. Eventually, we started shipping to zoos and then pet shops. Richard retired in 1982 and turned the business over to the next generation of Flukers.

2010s
Diane's children, Karlie and Vance, officially joined the farm in 2014 & 2017. They've each worn many hats at Fluker Farms, but as of now, Vance's role is Director of Business Development while Karlie is behind the scenes with her mom in Accounting. Both spent much of their childhood around the farm. Watching movies in the conference room, gathering pecans from the trees that line the driveway, and even put in hours helping the farm while they were in high school. Fluker's has been a major part of their lives and it was only natural to join the family business.

2020s
David's children, Alex, Christian, and Kat, are still in school, but they enjoy spending summers at the farm helping when they can. Even though they aren't here everyday, they're still brainstorming ideas for the farm. So many good plans in the works and we can't wait for them to officially join the Fluker Farm team too!
