Mealworm Diet
I use this for my superworms to gut load before feeding to my hedgie. Not only does it help the worms live longer but also helps my pet!
Fluker's High-Calcium Mealworm Diet is a premium formula designed for "gut-loading" mealworms to increase their vitamin and mineral content prior to offering them as prey to your pet. It also serves as bedding for your mealworms. This veterinarian-formulated diet has been clinically proven to establish a positive calcium-to-phosphorus ratio in live mealworms when fed as directed. Invertebrates, such as mealworms, are deficient in calcium. Over time, this deficiency can lead to poor bone growth in reptiles. To prevent this, it is important to feed your pet reptile gut-loaded mealworms. Gut-loading ensures the calcium reaches appropriate levels. This allows insect-eating pets to benefit not only from the nutritional value of the mealworm itself but the insect's nutrient-rich gut content as well.
FEATURES:
• Veterinarian-formulated diet for gut-loading mealworms
• Establishes a positive calcium-to-phosphorus ratio
• Available in 6 oz, 12 oz, and 3 lbs.
Feed as the primary source of food for mealworms. Add 1 to 2 inches of Fluker's High-Calcium Mealworm Diet to your mealworm container. To ensure optimal nutrition and calcium intake, let your mealworm feed on the diet for 48 hours before offering it to your pet. Replace diet once it breaks down and becomes dusty.
*It is not advised to keep sliced potatoes or other sources of moisture in the mealworm container during gut-loading. Mealworms will prefer to eat this instead of gut-loading on the diet itself.
If you are keeping your mealworms longer than one week, you may store them in a refrigerator to prevent them from turning into beetles.
Wash hands after use.
