The Mysterious Case of Ohio’s Loveland Frogman

Posted by Damian Tweedy, Larvae Production Scientist at Fluker Farms on May 2nd 2025

As we celebrate Amphibian Week, we're exploring beyond the terrarium and into folklore with a spotlight on one of America's most mysterious amphibians—the Loveland Frogman.

First sighted in 1955 near the banks of the Little Miami River in Loveland, Ohio, this legendary creature has captivated cryptid enthusiasts for decades. Witnesses describe a bipedal, leathery-skinned amphibian standing 3 to 4 feet tall, often seen under the cover of fog near bridges and wetlands. According to our Fluker’s Field Guide, the Frogman is shy, elusive, and a known lover of Fluker’s Crickets and Superworms (we're flattered). With sightings as recent as 2016 and tales still swirling in local lore, the Frogman continues to blur the line between myth and mystery.
